I am convinced that this innovative blood test will quickly be adopted as a much-needed screening tool by all of us Family physicians.

Patients in general, want to avoid colonoscopy both because of the procedure itself and the bowel preparation necessary. Two years ago a blood test became available to we physicians in Toronto which greatly facilitates the understanding of the potential for cancer of the colon and the advice we give to our patients when screening for colorectal cancer. ColonSentry is now incorporated into the blood draw associated with an annual physical, when appropriate.

Medical Director, Virtual Wellness Institute
I have been offering ColonSentry as a colorectal cancer option to my patients since 2008. The test is patient friendly in that it consist of a simple blood test. It provides actionable information on the patient's current risk for having the disease and helps facilitate decision making regarding the next steps. It is also useful for colonoscopy-compliant patients as an interval monitoring solution. I had a patient who had low risk ColonSentry score two years earlier and upon a repeat test their risk score had increased significantly into a high risk category. This prompted me to send the patient for colonoscopy, in which polyps were subsequently found and removed.
